Subject: Letter of Support for the CR F90 / 360th Street & Richland Road Intersection Improvement Project
Dear Mr. Secretary,
I am writing to express my strong support for the CR F90 / 360th Street & Richland Road Intersection Improvement Project, a vital initiative that will significantly improve safety and mobility for the Van Meter community.
This project directly addresses critical safety needs at one of the city’s major intersections—serving as a key connection to Interstate 80 and 35, downtown Van Meter, Trindle Park, the school complex, and future commercial developments. The project will provide important benefits to residents and visitors, including:
· Reducing serious injuries and fatalities through the construction of a single-lane roundabout and enhanced signage
· Improving safety for students, especially vulnerable road users like bicyclists, who will use the upcoming multimodal trail along the corridor
· Supporting planned residential and commercial development by addressing traffic congestion and increasing intersection efficiency
The City of Van Meter’s commitment to responsible planning and public safety is evident in their proactive studies and alignment with CIRTPA’s Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Their leadership gives me confidence this project will be delivered efficiently and effectively.
I wholeheartedly support the CR F90 / 360th Street & Richland Road Intersection Improvement Project and strongly urge US Department of Transportation to approve and prioritize this essential investment.
Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
